Frequently asked questions
No. We only tattoo clients who are 18 years or older.
Yes. To save us both time we can get the majority of our consultation done through email or chat online. For small tattoos if we are both satisfied doing the consultation online only, that is fine we can go ahead and book our appointment.
For large scale work and if you’re a new client we need to meet in person for me to see the health of your skin, take measurements of the area and most importantly… make sure that we are comfortable with each other :) I won’t book you in for a 10 session tattoo project if our energies don’t jive!
No faces, necks, hands, fingers, feet or genitals. Anyone that is intoxicated, or seems to be pressured into it by a friend or spouse.
Any symbol that is associated with a gang or hate group, even if it’s your heritage (ex Viking symbols). Unsure if the symbol you want has been taken over by horrible individuals? Check out the Hate Symbols Database below. If you ask for something I’m unsure of, please know I do check this database.

It is likely that I didn’t feel comfortable working with you the first time, you flaked out of your appointments too often (see question below). I am an artist, not a Amazon shop. I can’t provide a good service to you if I don’t feel comfortable.
Yes! If you want to retain your deposit, please allow 72 hours notice to reschedule. If you reschedule for 3 sessions of the same tattoo, for ANY reason, regardless of how much notice - you will lose your deposit and I may NOT book you in again. See deposit policy.
No! I’m sorry, I know how hard it is to have to wait, but your body needs to be spending all of its energy on you and the baby, not healing a wound, or even worse an infection! When breast feeding is done I’m sure you’ll savour the little break to come in for a session.
I charge $180 per hour (plus gst)or $150 minimum charge (anything under 45 minutes). The only pieces that I charge per piece rather than per hour are my flash pieces.
That depends on so many things! The style of tattoo (more detail is going to take way longer), black and grey or colour (colour is a slower process), where on your body the tattoo is going (your calf is going to be much easier for me to tattoo than your ribs or inner bicep) and how healthy your skin is!
Tips are so greatly appreciated but they are not a must. As with tips anywhere, they are a great way to show you’re happy with your service.
The studio is 18+ only, no children please! You can absolutely bring a friend, they can be a good distraction from the pain.
Wear something that you will be comfortable in and that you don’t mind getting stained with stencil and tattoo ink! If we are tattooing your collarbone or shoulder wear a tank top that you can slip under one arm. If were tattooing your back you can wear a button up shirt on backwards. The studio is warm in the winter and the a/c is on in the summer. It’s always good to bring an extra layer if you tend to get cold while being tattooed.
No! Be very clear about what you want for your project when we are having our consultation. You can send reference photos, photos of tattoos from my portfolio or even pictures of other peoples tattoo work - just know that I will not copy someone’s work, but it can help me to get an idea of what you like.
Once we have finished our consultation if you decide to change your idea and the artwork has already been made, you will forfeit your deposit and a new one will be required to create new artwork.
No! Your tattoo is an open wound and you need to follow the aftercare instructions (available online or as a printout in studio) to keep yourself safe and have the best heal possible.
Generally speaking it is around the 2 week mark where you can continue with regular activities (baths, gym, swimming etc). This is just a guideline. How fast or slow you heal will depend on your overall health and wellness.
You can but please only use the brands, Dr. Numb, Zenza, or Topicaine5. Numbing cream can only be used on small areas 4”x4” (10cm x10cm). Spot test before your appointment to be sure you won’t have a reaction. Some numbing creams change the texture of the skin and make it difficult for me to work. If this happens with creams I am unfamiliar with I may have to cancel our appointment (with loss of deposit) and rebook you.
No, with the exception of something your toddler/young child has drawn - so freaking CUTE!
Yes! Please send a photo of what writing/fingerprint you want copied in our messages.
No. Nothing goes into your skin that I can’t guarantee sterile.
